Ways you can help

We have members that come from a variety of backgrounds and ages.  There is something for everyone at NFEC.  Not everyone is a fire fighter.  We have needs in several areas:

This was just a little look at the things we do.  If you do not wish to fight fires, there may still be something you can do.  If you aren't sure, feel free to call or meet with us.  There is no need to apply, until you are sure.  As mentioned, if you do not wish help us in person, you can still help us with your donations or attending events that we may have that are open to the public.

Training and Requirements

This depends on what you are looking to help with.  For administrative and committee functions, all you need is the desire and time to help.  How much time will depend on the task at hand.

Fire fighters are encouraged to attend our weekly fire trainings, usually held on Monday nights.  We realize that not everyone can make it every Monday night.  All we ask is that when you are available, you come out.   At first, without training, you will be in more of an observer role.  You will need to attend basic training courses at a county training facility.  We are fortunate that the Montgomery County Fire Academy is located in neighboring Plymouth Township, so it is not far away.  The courses may be offered on weekends, and sometimes on weeknights as well.  The fire company will issue you gear, and pay for the cost of the training.  All you need to give is your time.

We do not limit the amount of training you can receive.  We encourage continued training.  Although, we will limit the roles you take on at emergency scenes if you are not trained to perform particular functions.
