NFEC Housing

Norriton Fire Engine Company held a housing of five vehicles on Saturday, August 14th.  With the help of fire companies from near and far, politicians, and of course the residents of our own township; we had a housing ceremony for our new Tower Ladder truck, Utility vehicle, Squad (rescue/pumper), Quint (ladder/pumper), and our chief officer vehicle.

It was a beautiful day as we heard from several of our political figures, the fire company president, and the fire company chief.  A prayer was offered and the vehicles were blessed by Rev. Kletzel of St. Titus Church.

A housing is an old tradition.  In the days of horse drawn fire apparatus, the horses would not back the apparatus in to the firehouse.  So the men would unhitch the horses and manually push the apparatus back into the firehouse.   Although the vehicles today can back in, we ceremoniously push the trucks in during a ceremony.   It has been a number of years since NFEC had a ceremony like this, so when we received our new Tower Ladder, Tower 61, we decided it was time to "house" the five vehicles that weren't housed yet.

We thank everyone came out to help us celebrate this occasion.
